Case Summary

23year old male came to us with complain of pain both hip (right >left) from last 3 years and limitation of movement both hip. He was taking painkillers regularly since then. On examination there was only jog of movement present in right hip along with considerable limitation of movement left hip. Due to gross limitation of movement his daily activities were severely affected.

His radiograph shows fibrous ankylosis with deformed head along with protrusio acetabuli and secondary degenerative changes on right side while on left side there was grossly reduced joint space along with secondary degenerative changes.

Patient was thoroughly investigated and after pre anesthetic check patient underwent Right Total Hip Replacement. We did uncemented acetabulum with augmentation of fixation with 2 cancellous screw with bone grafting that was prepared from femoral head using bone mill, polyehthylene liner was used , we did uncemented femoral stem with ceramic head. Intraoperative and postoperative period was uneventful.

In bed hip and knee physiotherapy, static quads, bedside sitting started from next day, wound inspection done on 2nd postoperative day and patient was discharged on 5th postoperative day under stable condition
